Sacramentum - Finis Malorum
More awesome Sacramentum.
EDIT : Upon repeated listens, I've come to realize the replay value on these songs is enormous. These are unpredictable while staying fluid, and just generally gorgeously colorful. Can't say enough about this thing, but play it on something loud!

Drudkh - Forgotten Legends
Atmosphere centered, gorgeous, deep and dark black metal influenced heavily by Burzum and Enslaved. One of those grandiose nature inspired ones.

Cosmic Church - Arcana Dei I-III
This is Cosmic Church's Arcana Dei trilogy of demos, and man are they great for demos. This will instantly turn off some because of the production quality. It's pretty low fi, but it really isn't anything that you can't get past if you listen to black metal. There are beautiful, beautiful guitar lines being played in that fuzz.
I would just post their full length, but I honestly can't recommend it yet as I haven't given it a decent listen. Links start with the first demo.

Gorement - Darkness of the Dead (Compilation)
An off beat, atmospheric swedish death metal album that really doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves. This is a compilation of The Ending Quest and all of their demos (as far as I know). The awesome riffs never stop coming at you. Through most of their songs they stay around midpace with lots of doomy sections thrown in. This may turn off some DM listeners, but not me. Doomy is the way to do it, and these guys get it. Awesome guitar tone, and the production on the songs from The Ending Quest is great for a death metal album, although not quite as dirty as I would like it.

Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
My personal favorite Enslaved release, and one of my personal favorite black metal albums. You simply can't go wrong with it. It's epic, gigantic, entrancing, melodic and majestic black metal that makes you want to climb a mountain. Mandatory!

Immortal - Pure Holocaust
A Norwegian classic from the master of corniness themselves.

Zyklon B - Blood Must Be Shed
A vicious little Norwegian EP that showed a lot of promise, shame these guys didn't put out a full length.

Paysage 'd Hiver - Paysage 'd Hiver
Ambient based black metal that really creates a great atmosphere. Raining curtains of black mist.

Negura Bunget - 'n Crugu Bradului
Romanian progressive black metal that really opens up into new territory upon repeated listens. This one is all about songwriting.

Dead Congregation - Graves of the Archangels
Newer old school death metal with Incantation and Immolation as primary influences. Creative, crushing, and well thought out. I've spun this one countless times.

Agatus - Dawn of Martyrdom
Greek black metal that doesn't come close to sounding like a Rotting Christ or Varathron clone. Very melodic, pagan inspired riffs, with simple drumming for the most part. Keys are present a lot here, but definitely not in dominating fashion. Epic drips out of this ones butt cheeks.

Aldaaron - Nous Reviendrons Immortels
The Frenchies know how to get it done. Superb black metal. It's not groundbreaking or revolutionary, but it's very well done in a very fun style. It's definitely on the more melodic side of black metal, with very pagan melodies, and even some clean vocal passages here and there. Great for a debut album, very excited to see what these guys end up putting out.

Aeternus - Beyond the Wandering Moon
Here's a unique one. It's definitely black metal, but it has a lot of elements of death metal (most notably in the vocals) and even doom metal. They also have a distinct pagan voicing to their riffs that bring a folky feel out sometimes, too. It's a really cleverly crafted blend of metal. When an Aeternus song kicks on, you know it's them the moment you hear them riff. They've got their own thing going on, and it's good.

Abigor - Structures of Immortality
This little guy tends to get overlooked in their discography. Understandably, as it's only two songs. But these two songs rip ass. Major ass.
Abigor - Verwüstung / Invoke the Dark Age
More really quality black metal by Abigor. Not as focused as it could be as a cohesive whole, and the songwriting is still coming along compared to their later stuff, but it still blows almost all black metal I've heard away.

Dawn - Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy)
Oh, you Swedes. You always know how to tickle my fancy. Here we have a black metal band that focuses on unfolding epic melody after epic melody, pummeling you into oblivion the whole way. If you dig Sacramentum, you'll love this.

Grave Miasma - Exalted Emanation
Changing gears a bit, here's a cavernous monstrosity of a death metal album in the vein of Incantation. Not for pussies, or grandpas.

Kvist - For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike
You know, it's really a shame these guys didn't come out with any material other than this. This is gorgeous, epic, sorrowful, angry, rape your soul black metal from the depths of Norway. It's got little tasty keyboard bits scattered about, and of course the guitar riffs are of sublime quality. The last track blows me away every time.

Svartsyn - ...His Majesty
An epic, fiery beast that destroys everything in its path. This album probably has a bigger sound than any BM album I've heard, it's just huge. Most of the time the riffs are pretty chaotic, but they often throw in a melodic part that will hook you in. The drummer for these guys really ties up their sound, as he makes everything better. No blast spamming to be found here. He even manages to compliment the vocals.

Gorgoroth - Antichrist
Yeah, I know that everybody knows about Gorgoroth. This one is my favorite of theirs, the only problem with it is it's too fucking short. And the song Possessed by Satan is definitely weak compared to the rest of the material here. Other than these faults, this one is just about as good as it gets. The second and third songs together have more great riffs than most albums do. This one is stunning in its melodies, songwriting and overall feel.

Abigor - Nachthymnen (From the Twilight Kingdom)
Alright, here's my favorite release from everybody's favorite Austrian black metal band, Abigor. This one takes a ton of inspiration from classical music, and really manages to forge its own style unique from the rest of black metal. These riffs are fucking fantastic, the drumming is phenomenal by any extreme metal standards. Another one that I can't say enough about, this is CLASSIC. This is the album where these guys were firing on all cylinders towards something they themselves probably couldn't fathom.

Sacramentum - Far Away from the Sun
Alright ladies and gentlemen, this is my first entry into what I hope becomes a long endeavor. I'll be giving links to my favorite metal and non metal albums, and the metal ones will mostly be black metal albums, as it is my current passion. Also, if a link goes out please let me know as I don't have the time or the bandwidth to upload albums all the time, so I'll be using links from other blogs.
I figured I'd start things off correctly, with my blog being named after a song off of this album. Needless to say, I'm a huge fan of this epic creation. I could rant on and on about it, but basically its an album dripping with feelings of life, pain, sorrow, comfort, insanity, happiness, whatever you can conjure. It will make you feel emotions you haven't felt before. The guitar riffs speak for themselves. It's a crime if you haven't heard this, so do it now, and don't give up if you don't like it the first time. I had to give it 3 or 4 solid listens before it really hit me.
